Company profile

The bare facts

The basis for the high quality of our fabrics is extra-fine Australian merino wool (19.5 micrometer). Before it is shorn, a merino sheep can carry up to five kilos of wool. What we particularly value and process in our mill is the long, back fleece. Before the fleeces reach our factory, the wool is only shorn and washed in Australia. In our vertically integrated company the wool has to pass through all the different production stages. Merinos were first bred in Australia during the 18th century. The grassland there perfectly favours sheep-rearing and wool production.

Notable information

Raw wool has to undergo various production stages, including dyeing, blending, carding, spinning, weaving, fulling and finishing. To create the special qualities of our woolen cloth, the most important stage is the fulling, whereby the raw fabric shrinks considerably in both directions, while at the same time developing a matted texture. Loden has the effect of regulating body temperature and is always comfortable to wear.

Attention to detail

Today the company showcases its loden as a timeless woollen cloth dyed to whatever colour the current fashion is. On classic nap loden, nature thistles are still used to create that classy sheen. With its smooth finish, cloth loden has a glossy, satiny texture, whereas soft loden has a particularly soft feel. What makes our genuine double face loden so special is the binder yarn, which holds the two sides of the fabric together. Perfectly complementing all types of loden are matching, colour-woven qualities.

A feel for cloth, plus plenty of experience

For the production of our cloth and loden, we need more than just first-class raw materials and efficient machinery. Processing wool also requires a feel for the fabric and plenty of experience. The combination of these three factors gives our products their unique attributes.
