Winding Section

Winding is the first stage in the weaving preparation. The yarn from the spinning mill is re-wound to produce cross-wound bobbins and cleaned of any dust or fluff. Also faults such as thick or thin lengths are removed because they can lead to fluctuating yarn tensions and a rolling-up of loose fibres. They can also directly or indirectly cause yarn breakage during weaving. As such winding is not an unproductive process because it leads to rationalising during further processing.

Both weft and warp bobbins are prepared in the winding section. The weft bobbins are supplied directly to the weaving mill and the warp bobbins are further treated in the warping section.

Warping Section

A textile warp is essential because in the weaving deparment the weft yarn is drawn under and over parallel warp yarns to create a fabric. It holds all warp threads running in the longitudinal direction. To comply with the high demands required of the final garment, several preconditions apply when manufacturing the warp:
  • Even tension for all warp threads
  • Accurate compliance with pattern
  • All warp threads must be of the same length
  • The width of the warp must match the length of the weaving reed
